Ticket Services Representative

Signature Theatre, one of New York's leading off-Broadway theatres, is seeking passionate, articulate, outgoing, tenacious theatre-artists as callers for our Telefundraising Campaign.

Founded in 1991, Signature Theatre celebrates playwrights and gives them an artistic home, producing six to eight productions annually. In 2005 Signature began its groundbreaking Signature Ticket Initiative, providing affordable tickets to all of its productions. In 2012, Signature opened the Pershing Square Signature Center, the Frank Gehry-designed 75,000 square foot Center featuring three theatres, two rehearsal studios, a central, public lobby with a café and bookstore, as well as administrative offices.

Position Summary:

Ticket Services Representative is a part-time position and reports to the Ticket Services Manager and Assistant Ticket Services Manager. The position is part of a team that represents the call center, concierge, and downstairs box office in the multi-venue facility. At this time, this position will be working remote and in person.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working remotely to answer voicemails and inbound busy phone queue to sell tickets and memberships with Tessitura ticketing system
  • Selling tickets and answering questions at the downstairs box office in person
  • Troubleshooting customer service issues at concierge and box office in person
  • First line response for customer service inquiries
  • Maintaining relationships with our loyal base of Members
  • Responding daily to Ticket Services email inquiries
 

Candidates must have experience with ticketing systems in a professional capacity. Tessitura experience preferred. This is a part-time hourly position without benefits, working weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Position Summary:

The Telefund Caller is a part-time position in the Development department and will work closely with Signature’s Telefundraising consultant and the Director of Individual Giving and Development Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform outbound fundraising calls
  • Manage individual portfolio of leads
  • Maintain knowledge of Signature Theatre programming, membership, and giving programs
  • Report and submit gift forms to the Development Team

Compensation:

The Telefund Caller is a part-time, temporary position, with an hourly rate of $15/hr plus commission. Applicants must be available for 8-10 hours a week, afternoons and early evenings. This position is remote, so access to a phone and a computer with a reliable connection are required.

Sound Engineer

Signature Theatre, one of New York’s leading off-Broadway theatres, is seeking a Sound Engineer to join the production team and report to the Sound, Video and Communications Supervisor.

Founded in 1991, Signature Theatre celebrates playwrights and gives them an artistic home, producing six to eight productions annually. In 2005, Signature began its groundbreaking Signature Ticket Initiative, providing subsidized, affordable tickets to all its productions. In 2012, Signature Theatre opened the Pershing Square Signature Center, the Frank Gehry-designed 75,000 square foot center featuring three theatres, two rehearsal studios, a central, public lobby with a café and bookstore, as well as administrative offices. The center is not only home to Signature’s productions but also rentals throughout the calendar year. In FY19, over 150 different productions and events rented space in the center.

Position Summary:

Signature Theatre seeks a detail-oriented, collaborative Sound Engineer to mix its upcoming production of Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 in its 294-seat Diamond Theatre.

Our console is a Yamaha CL3 with the latest firmware update. We have variety of mics and speakers, including Shure, EV, JBL, among others, and use Qlab for playback.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sound checks prior to each performance
  • Perform troubleshooting as needed during rehearsals and performances
  • Operate the audio console for performances, mixing vocals and running QLab and/or the audio console
  • Assist in troubleshooting, maintenance, of all sound equipment, including body and handheld microphones, audio console, power amplifiers, speakers, monitors, and cables
  • Assist in the maintenance of Audience Assisted Listening Devices, show monitors, and Stage Management headset systems;
  • Participate in load-in and strike

Ideal Skills and Experience:
 
  • Experience in live sound engineering
  • Experience mixing on a Yamaha C3 console
  • Ability to mix 4-8 microphones
  • Must be comfortable working on a ladder
  • Must be comfortable being on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Be an energetic, motivated, supportive, hardworking and cooperative team member

Compensation:

This position is paid at an hourly rate of $26.00/hour with eligibility for overtime after 40 hours per week. The position is available immediately with an end date of 12/06/2021.

Props Supervisor

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Production Manager the Props Supervisor closely works with the design team and director to compile and execute prop lists and set dressing needs for all production. The Props Supervisor is a key member of the production team and will coordinate timely delivery of props to rehearsal rooms. This is a part-time, temporary, non-exempt position with a minimum hourly rate of $27/hr. All employees of Signature Theatre have a responsibility to be active in Signature Theatre’s continued commitment to its Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility values and goals. Responsibilities:

  • Manage props for a single Signature Theatre production.
  • Work with the design team and director to compile and execute prop lists and set dressing needs
  • Coordinate with Production Stage Management timely delivery of props to the rehearsal room.
  • Coordinate with Production Stage Manager any repairs needed from throughout rehearsals and run of show
  • Coordinate use of shops and equipment for props work calls with department supervisors
  • Maintain accurate petty cash reconciliations for each production, working with Production Manager to stay within budgets
  • Train, oversee and enforce safety protocols throughout the planning and execution stages for all properties work at the Perishing Square Signature Center
  • Ongoing prop support through run of show
  • Maintain props inventory for both on and off-site storage

Desired Skills and Experience

We welcome applicants who have experience in theatrical production, and/or stage management. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work constructively with the artistic and production teams and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.

Position summary:

Signature Theatre seeks a detail-oriented, collaborative Technical Director who, in conjunction with Signature Theatre’s production and artistic departments, supports the directors’ and designers’ vision and maintains Signature Theatre’s high artistic and production standards. The successful Technical Director will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills working within a high-performance environment. This is a temporary non-exempt position.

We are looking for someone who possesses:

  • Broad knowledge of construction techniques as they relate to technical designs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye to detail
  • Ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Excellent written/communication/interpersonal skills to support smooth interactions with internal and external clients
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
 

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with designers to realize designs in quickly and efficiently while keeping an eye towards fiscal responsibility
  • Maintain clear communication within the production department to ensure successful integration of a project’s technical elements
  • Attend all design presentations, meetings, and run-throughs as designated by the production manager
  • Estimate, track labor and design costs for each production and advise artistic production management of the potential consequences of proposed changes
  • Provide supervision for load-in and work calls during the production process coordinating activity with other department heads
  • Responsible for the hiring and management of over hire as needed
  • Maintain clean and safe work practices throughout the Center, its theatres and support spaces
