Position summary:

Signature Theatre is currently seeking House Managers for a limited run, guided installation project planned to operate at the Pershing Square Signature Center beginning June 2021 through August 2021. Opportunities for continued employment may be available coinciding with Signature Theatre’s theatrical season scheduled to begin in Fall 2021. The House Manager supports the audience experience and is an integral part of introducing and maintaining the culture of the Center for the theatre’s Season Members, general audience, and visitors. The House Manager is responsible for the safety of the public, ensuring a comfortable environment for audiences to enjoy the Center and its programming. Collaborating with ticket services, volunteers, and other front of house personnel, the House Manager will ensure productions run efficiently.

This part-time, seasonal position requires a flexible schedule which generally includes day and evening shifts Tuesday – Sunday. This is a part-time, seasonal position, compensated at $20.50 per hour.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating front of house staff and/or volunteers to facilitate the safe and timely movement of audiences in and out of performance venues
  • Preparing and communicating informational messages for ticket holders
  • Maintaining applicable attendance records, verifying ticket stub count, and preparing performance reports of event details
  • Working closely with Ticket Services to troubleshoot ticketing and customer service issues
  • Supporting and communicating with front of house staff to provide engaging customer service
  • Communicating with Stage Managers and other production staff to facilitate performance schedules and troubleshoot various issues
  • Assisting with special projects as needed
 

Candidates should be:

  • Experienced with, or enthusiastic for, a public-facing role
  • Possessing exemplary customer service and communication skills
 

Primary criteria to be considered for an interview are:

  • Experienced in audience services in a theatre or performance venue
  • Demonstrable ability to be a team leader
  • Possessing or obtaining a FDNY F-03 Certificate of Fitness (Fireguard)
  • Possessing or obtaining a CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of Tessitura

Audience Services Representative

Position summary:

Audience Services Representatives are responsible for creating a welcoming environment at the Pershing Square Signature Center. Reporting to the House Manager, Audience Services Representatives are an integral part of introducing the culture of Signature Theatre to the company’s Season Members, general audiences and interested visitors. Audience Service Representatives are primarily responsible for engaging guests as they arrive at the Center and orienting our audiences to the venue.

This part time, seasonal position requires a flexible schedule which generally includes day and evening shifts Tuesday – Sunday. The position is compensated at $15 per hour.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Directing and monitoring lobby traffic
  • Delivering instructions and information to the public in a clear and friendly way
  • Communicating informational messages to ticket holders
  • Validating tickets upon audience entry
  • Responsible for the set-up, storage and care of front of house equipment
  • Working with the House Manager to troubleshoot all ticketing and customer service issues • Assisting with special projects as needed related to department planning and unique events
 

Candidates should be:

  • Experienced with, or enthusiastic for, a public-facing role
  • Possessing exemplary customer service and communication skills

Lead Ticket Services Representative and Group Sales Coordinator

Position summary:

The Lead Ticket Services Representative and Group Sales Coordinator is a part-time position and reports to the Ticket Services Manager. This non-exempt position is part of a team that manages the call center, concierge and box office in the multi-venue facility.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing and training Ticket Services representatives in the call center, box office, and concierge using the Tessitura ticketing system
  • Facilitating group sales and maintaining relationships with group sales clients
  • Troubleshooting ticketing and customer service issues
  • Working closely with Ticket Services Assistant Manager, Director of Audience Services and Marketing Director to reach and increase sales goals
  • Maintaining relationships with our loyal audiences and seeking opportunity to convert and attract new audiences
  • Responding daily to Ticket Services email inquiries
  • Helping to execute special projects for the department as assigned
 

Candidates must have experience with ticketing systems in a professional capacity. Tessitura experience preferred, but not required. This is a part-time, hourly position without benefits working weekdays, weekends, and holidays. This position is compensated at $20 per hour.

Technical Director

Signature Theatre, one of New York’s leading off-Broadway theatres, is seeking a Technical Director to join the production team and report to the Director of Production and Facilities.

Founded in 1991, Signature Theatre celebrates playwrights and gives them an artistic home, producing six to eight productions annually. In 2005, Signature began its groundbreaking Signature Ticket Initiative, providing subsidized, affordable tickets to all of its productions. In 2012, Signature opened the Pershing Square Signature Center, the Frank Gehry-designed 75,000 square foot Center featuring three theatres, two rehearsal studios, a central, public lobby with a café and bookstore, as well as administrative offices. The center is not only home to Signature’s productions but also rentals throughout the calendar year. In FY19, over 150 different productions and events rented space in the center.

Position summary:

Signature Theatre seeks a detail-oriented, collaborative Technical Director who, in conjunction with Signature Theatre’s production and artistic departments, supports the directors’ and designers’ vision and maintains Signature Theatre’s high artistic and production standards. The successful Technical Director will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills working within a high-performance environment. This is a temporary non-exempt position.

We are looking for someone who possesses:

  • Broad knowledge of construction techniques as they relate to technical designs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye to detail
  • Ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Excellent written/communication/interpersonal skills to support smooth interactions with internal and external clients
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
 

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with designers to realize designs in quickly and efficiently while keeping an eye towards fiscal responsibility
  • Maintain clear communication within the production department to ensure successful integration of a project’s technical elements
  • Attend all design presentations, meetings, and run-throughs as designated by the production manager
  • Estimate, track labor and design costs for each production and advise artistic production management of the potential consequences of proposed changes
  • Provide supervision for load-in and work calls during the production process coordinating activity with other department heads
  • Responsible for the hiring and management of over hire as needed
  • Maintain clean and safe work practices throughout the Center, its theatres and support spaces
