Position Summary
Signature is seeking a Director of Finance to guide Signature's financial policy while also being an active partner with the senior leadership team in planning the organization's future strategy and implementing ongoing operations. The Director of Finance will report to the Executive Director and will lead all financial administration, business planning, and budgeting. The Director of Finance collaborates closely with peers on the senior leadership team, including the General Manager, Director of Human Resources, Associate Artistic Director, and Directors of Development, Marketing, and Production, as well as the Board Treasurer, and Finance, Investment, and Audit Committees. The Director of Finance directly
supervises the Accounting Manager, and the part-time Finance Assistant.

Responsibilities
  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls, and operational policies and procedures; make recommendations for increased efficiency and effectiveness
  • Coordinate and direct daily and periodic accounting operations and processes, assuring that financial records and systems are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Participate in the strategic planning process as an integral member of the senior leadership team through development and use of predictive models and activity-based financial analyses 
  • Perform cash flow analysis and planning to ensure availability of funds as needed for the operating entity
  • Maximize return and limit risk on cash by managing bank balances, and overseeing investments managed by external investment manager, in conjunction with Board Investment Committee
  • Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting internal audits
  • Lead communication with external auditors to prepare annual audited financial statements and 990 returns
  • Prepare accurate interim financial statements and special reports for both internal and external use, through collection, analysis, and consolidation of financial data
  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets and periodic re-forecasts.
  • Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
  • Liaise with the Finance Committee and participate in Committee and Board meetings
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, through research and awareness of existing, new, or anticipated legislation, and liaise with legal counsel to advise management on needed actions or potential impacts

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree or above in accounting and/or business
administration, or possess equivalent business experience, and have five-plus (5+) years' experience with a major non-profit, operating on an annual budget of at least five million ($5M).
  • The ideal candidate will have skills in managing processes and analyzing information, developing standards and policies, non-profit accounting, and auditing experience. Preference will be given to candidates with a Certified Public Accountant designation and/or an MBA, experience with Financial Edge, or other financial software, is required. Familiarity with Tessitura is a plus.

Compensation
This is a full-time non-exempt position with an annual salary of $100,000-$120,000.

ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager is responsible for daily accounting operations of the finance department. The Accounting Manager ensures timely, accurate, and complete financial information is available for the staff and our external partners to make financial decisions that impact the company. This person has excellent attention-to-detail and foundational accounting knowledge, comfortable with debits and credits and all daily bookkeeping tasks. The Accounting Manager supervises a part-time Finance Assistant to ensure accuracy and timeliness of daily deposits and weekly Accounts Payable processing, around 30 payments/week.

Responsibilities
  • Review daily cash receipts
  • Review weekly Accounts Payable process
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card processor activity
  • Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Manage revenue recognition, grant compliance, and purpose restrictions
  • Ensure data integrity of accounting postings, particularly of internal stakeholders

Box Office and Development
  • Support the monthly and year-end close process
  • Manage annual audit schedule preparation
  • Supervise part-time Finance Assistant

Desired Experience
  • Coursework in finance/accounting or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with accounting software
  • Familiarity with Tessitura is a big plus!
  • Two or more years of related experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

Compensation
This is a full-time salaried exempt position with an annual salary of $65,000-$75,000.

Position Summary
Signature is seeking a Compensation and Benefits Manager to administer total rewards and oversee data integrity and the ongoing maintenance of the Human Resources Information System. The Compensation and Benefits Manager is responsible to ensure all compensation policies and total rewards programs are compliant with current governing laws and the Employee Handbook.

Responsibilities
  • Resolve payroll errors and timely process the weekly payroll.
  • Prepare weekly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Research, analyze and recommend competitive total rewards policies and programs.
  • Monitor government regulations and total rewards trends and ensure all policies are current and compliant.
  • Accurately and timely reconcile benefit plan invoices.
  • Administer compensation programs including retirement plans, leave policies, wellness programs, unemployment, workers compensation and insurance plans with a focus on compliance and sustainability.
  • Document HRIS system processes and user guidelines.
  • Maintain HRIS system with a focus on continuous operational efficiency and enhanced reporting capabilities.
  • Respond to a variety of 1st level HR inquiries from employees.
  • Support recruitment processes.
  • Complete other tasks as needed. 

Desired Skills
  • Prior experience in administering Human Resources practices.
  • Prior experience with analyzing, implementing and maintaining total rewards programs.
  • Working knowledge of evaluating and applying FLSA job classifications.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with various compensation regulations.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Section 125 compliance testing.

Desired Experience
  • 3-5 years Human Resources experience with at least 3 years of experience using HRIS applications.
  • Experience at an agency, nonprofit or cultural institution.
  • Well-rounded understanding of benefits and compensation regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Compensation
This is a full-time salaried position. Salary range is $52,000-$60,000.

Position Summary

Technical Director is a full-time position and reports to the Production Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Signature Theatre Productions

  • Work with designers to assemble detailed bid packages, present to shops and mediate bids with a keen eye towards fiscal responsibility
  • Maintain clear communication within the production department to ensure successful integration of a show's technical elements
  • Attend all design presentations, meetings, rehearsals and run-throughs as designated by the production manager
  • Estimate, track labor and design costs for each production and advise artistic production management of the potential consequences of proposed changes
  • Provide supervision for all load-in and work calls during the production process coordinating activity with other department heads
  • Responsible for the hiring and management of over hire crews as needed
  • Coordinate ongoing maintenance of all scenic elements including automation and effects equipment throughout the run


The Pershing Square Signature Center

  • Ensure theatrical systems and theatre spaces are maintained and kept in proper working order
  • Provide support to rental entities as needed; including, but not limited to scenic, rigging, SFX and automation consultation and venue prep
  • Work closely with the Director of Production and Facilities to support ongoing needs of the Pershing Square Signature Center
  • Ensure annual maintenance of rigging systems in theatres and studios
  • Maintain CAD drawings for theatres, studios and public spaces
  • Maintain all Prop Shop equipment and inventory
  • Maintain clean and safe work practices throughout the Center, its theatres and support spaces

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Three or more years as a Technical Director or in a related position with equivalent experience
  • Broad knowledge of construction techniques including, but not limited to, rigging, automation, pneumatics and engineering as it relates to technical designs
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Proven supervisory and leadership skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and budgeting experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for details
  • Possess a positive attitude and is self-motivated
  • Willingness to obtain the following FDNY certifications: F03, C15 and E30
  • Possess a valid driver license. Ability to drive a box truck is a plus

Compensation
This is a full-time exempt position with an annual salary of $70,000-$75,000.
