Seasonal Role

Signature Theatre, one of New York’s leading Off-Broadway theatres, is seeking a Company Manager to join the General Management team for our upcoming 2025-2026 Season. Our season’s productions include ORATORIO FOR LIVING THINGS by Heather Christian, MOTHER RUSSIA by Lauren Yee, and ANIMAL WISDOM by Heather Christian.

About Signature

Founded in 1991, Signature Theatre celebrates playwrights and gives them an artistic home, producing six to eight productions annually. In 2005 Signature began its groundbreaking Signature Ticket Initiative, providing affordable tickets to all of its productions. In 2012, Signature opened The Pershing Square Signature Center, the Frank Gehry-designed 75,000 square foot Center featuring three theatres, two rehearsal studios, a central, public lobby with a café and bookstore, as well as administrative offices.

Position Summary

Reporting to the General Management department, the Company Manager’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Serve as liaison between artists, management, and production personnel for Signature Theatre’s 2025-2026 Season.
  • Draft and administer actor contracts and correspond with artist representatives with the Associate General Manager.  
  • Provide onsite coverage at all rehearsals and performances, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to respond to the ongoing needs of each company.
  • Manage any special needs for the company as they arise.
  • Process all house seat and company ticket requests and manage ticket inventory in conjunction with Marketing and the box office.
  • Process and distribute weekly company payroll and generate union reports.
  • Track expenses and reconcile company management budget.
  • Communicate Signature policies to the company.
  • Organize company events including opening and closing nights, meet & greets, tech dinners and other special events as needed.
  • Plan, source, and distribute opening night gifts.
  • Perform other additional duties as assigned by Associate General Manager and General Manager.

Required Experience/Skills/Abilities

  • At least one year of Company Manager experience or experience in a General Management office required.
  • Familiarity with the Off-Broadway community and working knowledge of theatrical unions (AEA, SDC, USA, Local 802) is desired.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster strong relationships across artists, staff, and Signature leadership.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive, proactive attitude and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, written, and administrative abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and resourceful in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Skilled problem-solver who can respond quickly and thoughtfully to day-to-day challenges.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with Tessitura is a plus.
  • A sense of humor and enthusiasm for working in a creative, artist-driven space.
  • Must be available to work onsite during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the production schedule.

Compensation

  • This is a full-time, seasonal/temporary, non-union position with a salary of $1,275/wk.
  • Position begins on or about August 18, 2025
    • Oratorio For Living Things first rehearsal: Tuesday, September 2, 2025
    • Mother Russia first rehearsal: Tuesday, January 6, 2026
    • Animal Wisdom first rehearsal: Tuesday, April 7, 2026
  • Candidates should be available through mid-July 2026.
