Preview of Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 Ahead of Fall ’21 Production
Available for a limited time only, join us for this special sneak peek featuring actors Esther Chae, Wesley T. Jones, Karl Kenzler, Tiffany Rachelle Stewart and Carmen Zilles in roles originally performed by playwright Anna Deavere Smith, and now re-imagined for new audiences. Declared a “rich, panoramic canvas of a national trauma” by The New York Times, Smith’s transformative study of the 1992 Los Angeles riots reveals the fault lines that set the city ablaze. Directed by Obie award-winner Taibi Magar, the cast will perform select monologues from the play in tandem with historical footage.
The preview will be available to stream beginning Wednesday, July 21 at 5:00pm ET through Sunday, July 25 ending at 5:00pm ET.
A version with ASL Interpretation will also be available to stream at that time.
The video contains footage of extreme racialized violence and instances of racialized and discriminatory language, which some viewers may find disturbing. You can find resources for care and more at signaturetheatre.org/twilight-care.
Open captioning and ASL interpretation is available for this event.
Support for ASL interpretation on this production provided in part through funding from Access A.R.T./New York, a program of the Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York).
