Horton Foote passed away earlier this year at the age of 92. We have cherished our relationship with Horton for the last 15 years, devoting our 1994-95 season to his work, and reconnecting with him for several productions since. Signature productions of Horton's work include the world premieres of the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Young Man from Atlanta and Laura Dennis and the New York premieres of Night Seasons and Talking Pictures.
More recently we produced the world premiere of his The Last of the Thorntons (2001) and the award-winning production of The Trip to Bountiful (2005). Horton's other plays include 2009 Tony Award nominee Dividing the Estate, The Carpetbagger's Children, The Day Emily Married, The Chase, The Traveling Lady, Tomorrow, The Habitations of Dragons, Vernon Early and The Roads to Home.
In addition, Horton received Academy Awards for his screenplay adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird and his original screenplay, Tender Mercies.
